Janice Mrkonjic has an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a Master of Education (adult education) from Mount Saint Vincent University, Canada. She has broad professional experience spanning social work, education, eLearning, sales and business development in both Canada and the United States.
To complement her education and experience Janice is actively pursuing her Destination Management Executive certification through ADME which is the pre-eminent organization for Destination Management Executives. She serves on ADME’s education committee.
She is a graduate of Leadership Raleigh, a program of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.
One could easily say that she is a graduate of Leadership Durham 2010 and 2011 as Janice designs and delivers this program for the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce.
Janice always gives back by engaging in volunteer work within her community – from structuring, organizing and managing fundraisers to serving in a leadership role on local and national boards and committees including:

- International Festival of Raleigh
- 2010 Go Red for Women – Executive Leadership Team, American Heart Association
- Executive Women’s Golf Association, Raleigh Chapter (EWGA)
- Halifax Natal Day Festivals

Janice loves coaching and engaging everyone to ensure they enjoy the Greater Triangle area to the max. This love led her to establish Savvy Event Designs LLC as a progressive, out of the box, destination management company assisting remote-based meeting planners, visitors and newcomers with their special event needs while introducing them to local vendors and attractions.
By designing special events mapped directly to key interests, Janice shortens the discovery time of the area and creates an ‘at home’ feeling for our special guests.
