Meet the President and Founder
Janice Mrkonjic has an undergraduate degree in early childhood education and a Master of Education (adult education) from Mount Saint Vincent University, Canada. She has broad professional experience spanning social work, education, eLearning, sales and business development in both Canada and the United States.
To complement her education and experience Janice is actively pursuing her Destination Management Executive certification through ADME which is the pre-eminent organization for Destination Management Executives.
Janice always gives back by engaging in volunteer work within her community - from structuring, organizing and managing fundraisers to serving in a leadership role on local and national boards including:
- 2010 Go Red for Women - Executive Leadership Team, American Heart Association
- Executive Women's Golf Assocation, Raleigh Chapter (EWGA)
- Canadian Women in Communications (CWC)
- Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC)
- Halifax Natal Day Festival
- Tall Ships 2000
Janice's core mission is to help people while making them smile. This led her to establish Savvy Event Designs LLC. Janice loves the Greater Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and wants to share this affection by assisting remote-based meeting planners, visitors and newcomers in their acclimation to the area. By designing special events mapped directly to their interests, Janice shortens the discovery time for the area and creates an 'at home' feeling for newcomers and visitors alike. Janice lived this experience. Now she's thrilled to share it with you.
